Hunter Kelley

So, I designed a logo for a newly up-and-coming country recording artist out of West Michigan, Hunter Kelley. It’s pretty self-explanatory and straightforward, so I’m just going to paraphrase his old Facebook page below.

Country music’s traditional home may be in Nashville or “deep in the heart of Texas,” but there is a large and rabid following of all things country in the great state of Michigan. The likes of Kid Rock and Jana Kramer call the Mitten State home, and Frankie Ballard can attest to the passion-filled fans of the West Michigan area. Brantley Gilbert said it best: “Country must be country wide.”

No mantra has been truer for Hunter Kelley.

A product of Grand Rapids, MI, Hunter’s exposure to music began at a young age. Hunter can trace his combined love of rock and roll and country back to his parents: Kid Rock and Guns ’n’ Roses as well as Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw were staples for young Hunter and his musical formation. West Michigan is ripe with musical talent and is filled with countless venues for local acts to showcase their talents. It was no mistake that when Hunter picked up the guitar in 8th grade his journey began immediately.

After making his debut in a middle school talent show, Hunter ventured into the Grand Rapids music scene as a freshman at West Catholic High School. Hunter’s shy yet captivating persona and raw vocal talent caught the attention of both peers and fans alike. Although he was the youngest member of a 6-piece band, Hunter was the lead vocalist – a testament to his true ability and potential.

Hunter was able to establish relationships with people young and old. As Hunter aged, his voice and talent only grew. Venturing into other independent side projects, Hunter always stayed true to his country/rock roots. It wasn’t until January 2014 that Hunter decided to fully dive in and focus on developing his own unique and distinguishable sound.

By tapping into his network of resources, Hunter began writing new songs and honing his craft. With his writing team and the direction of local recording legend Michael Crittendon, Hunter entered the studio in the fall of 2014 to begin working on his debut single, “We Ride.” With the guidance of Michael and the whole Mackinaw Harvest Music Group team, Hunter is now poised to burst onto the West Michigan and country music scene.

Hunter Kelley is ready to bring a unique, Michigan twist to the country music party.
